Edenbridge United FC
EUFC REMEMBER 'WOODY'

Last year was a sad one for Edenbridge United when Andrew Wood, a player in our Under 13's team, died suddenly.

Andrew, or 'Woody' as he was known had been a lively, popular and important member of EUFC and although having played for us for just two seasons, he had become an established player, respected for his contribution on the pitch.

His parents, who had always been keen supporters of "Woody' and knew how
much he enjoyed playing for Edenbridge, started a memorial fund and this year, presented the club with a significant amount of money to be used as we
wished.

Ray and Gary Clarke, who had brought Woody into the club and coached him,
quite rightly wanted some of the money spent on a memorial trophy which
could be played for by all players in the club every season.

So, for this season, all teams have already been playing for the Andrew Wood
Memorial Trophy.

To involve all age groups needed a competition with a basis, so the club has decided to award the trophy to the team which ends the season with most league points. We realise that some teams won't play as many games as others, so we will work out the points by taking the lowest number of games played by any team and they apply that figure to the rest of the teams. For example, the Under 8's have 12 points from 8 games whereas the Under 14s have 13 from 11.

Therefore:

Under 8's: 8 games played - 12 points
Under 14's (Divide 13 points by 11 games) = 1.18 x 8 = 9.45 points

In the event of a tie at the end of the season, the winners will be the team with most wins.

The current tables are here, but these will be updated regularly on these
pages in order to keep all the teams informed of what they have to do to win
the Woody League.

The trophy and replicas will be presented on our Presentation Night.
